VHUA-001 - A Tour of Two Palaces
Visit Kao Wang, a range of low hills with 3 big peaks, the highest being 95 metres. This 92-metre hillock on the northern approach to Petchburi supports the Phra Nakorn Khiri Palace, built in the 19th century by King Rama IV. The palace presents a fascinating collection of buildings that combine both Thai and Western architectural styles. Next on the agenda is Ban Puen Palace. King Rama IV had it built at Ban Puen village by the river of Phetchaburi. It was a model of the summer palace of Keiser Whilhelm of Germany. Mr. Carl Dohring, the German architect who had designed Bang Khun Phrom Palace, was assigned to supervise the construction which was in Jugendstil style, a mixture between the Baroque and Art Nouveau. Finally visit Hua Hin’s town and market before heading back to the ship.
VHUA-002 – Cha-Am & Hua Hin Discovery
Visit the Marukhathaiyawan Golden Teakwood Palace. Located on the South of Cha Am, on the road to Hua Hin, this palace was originally built by King Rama VI in 1923. Designed by an Italian architect and built of golden teakwood in just 16 days, the palace is a small collection of gingerbread villas and is a dazzling composition of verandahs and latticework in regal proportions. Finally visit Hua Hin’s town and market before heading back to the ship.
